Barbara Corcoran talks about her humble beginnings with the Wall Street Journal. At 23 years old she borrowed $1000 from her boyfriend, and with him started her career in real estate.
Seven years later, he ran off with her secretary and since Corcoran owned only 49% of their joint business, she had to face that secretary and her ex everyday for a year. But motivation comes from such betrayal. And even more motivation comes when the person who hurt you most dares to tell you’ll never make it with out them. Pfft. Ms. Corcoran seems to be doing just fine.
