A publication called Entertainment Wise recently remarked, “Pippa Middleton looks the same exercising as she does at work! How does she do it?” They had two pictures of Pippa side by side from the same day wearing her work outfit in one, looking perfectly coiffed, and then jogging in her workout outfit in the other, also looking perfectly coiffed. Apparently this web site is unfamiliar with the shower and blow dryer concept or maybe Pippa just has perfect hair that still looks great even if it has a little sweat in it (adding yet another reason to be envious of her).
However, there has been stellar documentation that Pippa not only goes to work (see our gallery of her fabulous outfits) but then she often exercises during her lunch break and goes back to work. Because of this habit, Pippa may actually be much more productive at work and happier overall. University of Bristol researchers found that employees who enjoyed a workout before going to work – or exercised during lunchbreaks – were better equipped to handle whatever the day threw at them. It also found that people’s general mood improved on days of exercise but they became less calm on non-exercise days.
The research, published in the International Journal of Workplace Health Management, found that “On exercise days, people’s mood significantly improved after exercising. Mood stayed about the same on days they didn’t, with the exception of people’s sense of calm which deteriorated.” The study group was made up of 200 university staff and employees working for a pensions company and an IT firm.
Other key findings were:
- 72% reported improvements in time management on exercise days compared to non-exercise days.
- 79% said mental and interpersonal performance was better on days they exercised.
- 74% said they managed their workload better.
So perhaps Pippa runs during the work day to help her be a better publicist and event planner. Or she might just be doing it to keep that bum of hers in pristine shape.
