Katie Couric Chose Sarah Jessica Parker For Her First Sit-down Interview For ABC

Well, wouldn’t you pick someone fabulous too? Katie Couric will start off her career with ABC with a sit-down interview on Nightline with Sarah Jessica Parker. While promoting her new film, I Don’t Know How She Does It, Parker will discuss her career, family and the difficulties that come along with fame, according to the Hollywood Reporter. In the interview Parker said “I think the things that are more painful to me are not the intrusion of paparazzi, it’s the lack of civility that I find more intimidating and far more painful an experience. It’s the lack of critical thinking. It’s the endless snarky, mean way we talk about each other, we approach each other. The anonymity of being cruel, the delight in tearing people down. The tabloid era that we find ourselves in is a cultural boneyard, and that is painful to me.”

Last month Parker announced that she was no longer Halston Heritage’s Chief Creative Officer but she is certainly keeping busy. She is Hollywood’s top earning actress. She earned this title with her acting paychecks as well as her top-selling perfume brand, which earned $18 million last year. She told Vogue Magazine last month, ““I kept thinking that this age was the one to be worried about,” she says. “Like probably for the last five, six years I kept thinking, Oh, this is that age that I’ve heard about; this is that bad age where the work slows down. I assumed that at this point in my life I would be feeling frustrated, left behind, or marginalized, playing parts I was reluctant to. But I’ve been so busy, I’m not so sure that I see this fallow period yet. I’m not saying it’s not coming and that it won’t hit me like a ton of bricks, but I do find work that I’m excited about and interested in with people that I want to work with.”

As for Couric, she signed a deal with ABC in June to create and host a syndicated talk show that will debut in the fall of 2012. Until then, she will be a frequent contributor on other ABC news programs and morning talk shows. Wel, I certainly think choosing SJP over trying for Casey Anthony is a wise move for Katie. Casey Anthony may have been the most controversial story of the summer but SJP is going to set the record straight about Sex & the City 3. Can the two even be compared?
