7 First Ladies With Inspiring Careers Of Their Own

This Presidents Day, we celebrate the men who have led the country since its founding, through peace, war, prosperity, and poverty. But all but one US presidents have been married — James Buchanan is the exception — and several of those women, particularly within the past 100 years or so, have had fascinating careers of their own. That’s first lady Betty Ford as a professional dancer in 1942 above, for example. We’re hoping for a day when we can assemble a list of first husbands with careers of their own, too. But in the meantime, here are seven working first ladies with fascinating jobs.
