It has been reported that Tyra Banks is dating a much younger man, model Robert Evans. This is great in pro-cougar news (he is 14 years younger than her) but it gets a little shady because Evans will is an upcoming judge on Tyra’s show, America’s Next Top Model. Office romance is always a tricky thing, but is Tyra in an especially bad light because she recently fired three of her judges from the program?
It was only in April that Tyra fired off long time judges Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J Alexander from the show after it got an all-time,ratings low for its recent British Invasion cycle. Her relationship with the new judge could draw criticism but maybe people will look at it as in an effort to evolve her show to boost ratings, she fell into a relationship as well. Tyra Evans to be the “third permanent judge” alongside herself and Kelly Cutrone. And Jay Manuel is being replaced by Johnny Wujek, “stylist to the stars, including singer Katy Perry,” as “the new creative consultant, who will guide the models through their photo shoots.”
According to the release, ANTM Cycle 19 “will offer an interactive experience where, for the first time in ANTM history, the public will be able to have a say in who stays and who goes in the competition.” Fans will have two opportunities each week to vote online at www.cwtv.com and choose their favorite contestants based on photo shoots taken during production.” Tyra and the judges will then use those scores to help determine who is eliminated going into the next cycle. The release continues, “Viewers will also have the opportunity to have their comments and video messages featured in the show when the cycle airs in the fall.”
And people should take Tyra Banks seriously as in less than ten years she has created a multi-million-dollar empire. She has America’s Next Top Model which draws about 3.8 million viewers and is entering its 17th cycle. She also had the Tyra Show which was on for five seasons and she runs the TZONE Foundation, which raises funds for groups that empower young women and girls. In 2009 she was named as the highest paid woman in prime time, with an annual income of $30 million. She also launched the beauty site typeF.com last March. And if she wants to be a cougar, good for her!
