Few people would argue the importance of dressing for success, but most people probably wouldn’t attribute equal significance to their hair. Of course, your hair is just as much a part of your overall package as that well-tailored suit with the amazing pencil skirt. The bottom line is if you look good, you feel good. You exude confidence and people can literally see how seriously you take yourself and your career.
Celebrity hairstylist and entrepreneur, Sally Hershberger, told Forbes magazine, “Confidence is the trait I look for most in people I work and play with. I’m drawn to those who are smart, original, and absolutely unafraid to be who they are — honest, with no sugarcoating or side-stepping. Being confident is essential. ”
So what makes you confident? The right clothes are key, but it’s also smart to consider how your hairstyle affects your style. Maybe you decided to go corporate with a neat bob, or perhaps your hair is cut in simple layers, somewhere in between medium and long. Either way, is your hair mostly the same every day? Think about changing it up, especially if you have an event that evening.
When I’m at work I like my hair to be out of my face altogether, however, that means it’s usually in a ponytail. Ponytails are fine, but they’re also tired. A chic updo can transform your appearance, and it’s also fantastic for day-to-evening.
