This film was essentially about showing how women can really not have it all. Either your work or your family has to come second. Kate is constantly pulled back and forth during the film and the ending pretty much just says this battle will continue for the rest of her life.

Okay, okay so she gets the guy in the end but for most of it we are meant to think that putting her career first has led to Lucy having no social life, really no friends and just being a b*tch. Plus, she had to move the coldest town on earth in Minnesota to actually get a life.
In this film, Drew Barrymore plays a woman obsessed with getting a promotion at work dating a man who is obsessed with the Red Sox. They almost break up because of his devotion to the team but her need to work all the time doesn't help. She gets hit with a baseball in the head because she is on her computer.
In this film Reese Witherspoon plays a doctor who has been working so hard she has absolutely no social life. Her neighbors thought she was 80. So guess what happens to her? She dies. If that isn't punishment for being a workaholic, I don't know what is. Yes, she comes back to life but how often does that happen?
It is the scene towards the end of the film where Miranda has no makeup and you realize she is actually a vulnerable woman. She has been working so hard for years that she is getting divorced again, misses her children's events and really has nothing but her work.
Another story where working too much results in DEATH. After she stops working as a lawyer to be a housewife, she loses her best friend and then her husband cheats on her. She gets pregnant, gets her best friend back and goes back to work. She is happy except she works all the time and then is diagnosed with horrible cancer and DIES. And if that was a spoiler alert, then you really need to see this film.
Well, this breadwinning mom doesn't get cancer in this dark film but her husband does start cheating on her, partly because she is never around and makes her husband feel inferior.
In this film, Renee Zellwegger plays a workaholic journalist who doesn't stop to smell the roses until her mom gets diagnosed with cancer. She moves home to take care of her and though their relationship gets better, it turns out her father who she idolized is a jerk and then her mom dies. Oh and she loses her job and then gets accused of possibly helping her mother kill herself.
Oh my God. Working all the time means you won't have a date on Valentine's Day! Is there anything that could be worse?!!!
Okay, so he's not a working woman but we just had to include this one. Sometimes when you are a workaholic lawyer who is actually a beloved children's book character your children have to get kidnapped and you have to learn how to fly and fight Captain Hook to realize you are working too hard and not paying attention to the important things.
