Though back in August we got very excited because we heard Sarah Jessica Parker’s Glee character, Isabelle Wright, a Vogue.com editor, was going to be based on Anna Wintour we may have gotten ahead of ourselves. From watching the clip below of tonitght’s episode I just don’t see Anna being quite so warm to an intern applicant who hasn’t even gone to college. Plus, the character seems to be proud of her Ohio roots which Anna clearly wouldn’t be and we all know Anna Wintour would never eat a restaurant called Breadsticks.
And later in the episode, though I have not seen it yet, it appears that the editor sings a duet with Kurt featuring a mashup of The Way You Look Tonight and You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile. Though I would love to see Anna Wintour sing either of those sings with an intern, I just don’t think it will happen.
The only trace of Anna is in the character’s wardrobe. Parker insists that the character’s look is “not like Carrie Bradshaw” – in reference to her iconic Sex and the City on-screen counterpart. “It’s fashion, but it’s not crazy and eccentric,” she said. “We’re doing very strong, simple shifts. It’s sexy, hard, and facilitative.” Now, that sounds like Anna.
