The 30 Rock series finale airs in just a few weeks, and news just broke that the episode will feature a very special guest star: Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi tells the Washington Post, “I would do almost anything Tina Fey asks me to do.” Me, too, girl.
The Washington Post points out that Fey’s sitcom has had its share of political guest stars including Al Gore, Condoleezza Rice, and New York mayor Michael Bloomberg. This season’s story lines included a four-episode arc in which the TGS gang followed the presidential election, and Jenna Maroney almost influenced the outcome.
The show won’t say exactly what Pelosi’s role will be, and neither will Pelosi, though presumably she’ll be playing herself in the January 31 finale. The House Minority Leader has served as a guest judge on Top Chef, and has made dozens of other TV appearances, being interviewed by hosts from Ellen DeGeneres to Charlie Rose.
There’s not much info out there about 30 Rock’s season finale, but we do know that Julianne Moore, who plays an old girlfriend of Jack Donaghy’s, will appear. Ice-T is on board, too. Other than that, we don’t know what will become of Liz Lemon and TGS in their final appearance. Liz got married a few episodes ago, and she’s been trying to either get pregnant or adopt a baby on and off for the entire series. TGS is perpetually on the brink of cancellation, though it’s had successes, too. In short, pretty much anything could happen to Liz’s life and career. Blergh.
