Yesterday was the first day on the job for former senator John Kerry, who takes over for departing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this week. It’s normal to be sad to see Hillary go, but Kerry’s opening remarks gave us reason to cheer. In fact, they were actually sort of adorable. Here are our three favorites.
1. “Here’s the big question before the country and the world and the State Department after the last eight years: Can a man actually run the State Department?”
2. “As the saying goes, I have big heels to fill.”
3. ”The nation is grateful, the world is grateful. Thank you Hillary Clinton, and thank you, her team.”
Sweet, right? His feminism and rainbow of pantsuits may not garner as much attention as Hillary’s, but here’s hoping for a successful tenure.
