In one corner: Lindsay Lohan, who accepted a plea deal yesterday that will have her spending 90 days in a “locked-in” drug rehab facility. The sentence, which stems from a charge that she drove recklessly during an accident last June, also extends her probation for two years, and requires her to participate in a year and a half of psychotherapy. She skipped her first flight to LA because of supposed fears about her plane’s safety, only to hop on a private jet and arrive 48 minutes late to her hearing. It’s safe to say at this point that Lohan has little to no career left to save.
In the other corner: Lindsey Vonn, Olympic skiier and seemingly stable person, at least before yesterday, when she announced that she’s … dating Tiger Woods. “I guess it wasn’t a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy,” Vonn wrote on her Facebook page. “I don’t plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support!”
Woods’s marriage, you’ll recall, exploded in a fiery ball of disaster when it was revealed in late 2009 that he had been cheating on the mother of his children with dozens and dozens of trashy women. I’m sure he’s been in therapy since then, but yikes, I wouldn’t date the guy. And not only is Vonn dating him, she took a series of cheesy photos with him and then she and her boyfriend posted “eerily similar” announcements on Facebook and Twitter. The New York Times compared them to Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe, and pointed out that Vonn may have difficulty committing to intense physical therapy for her injured leg if she “plans to hopscotch the country on the traveling circus that is the PGA Tour.” Is Vonn jeopardizing her squeaky clean reputation as an athlete who earns millions from endorsement deals? As Politico’s Alex Burns tweeted, “Hi I’m Lindsey Vonn and I’m making a poor life decision.”
So, which Lindsay/Lindsey made the worse career move yesterday? Lindsay L. or Lindsey V.?
