Robin Wright Demanded Equal Pay For ‘House Of Cards’—And Got It

Flawless queen Robin Wright was angry that she was making less money than her House Of Cards costar Kevin Spacey—and she let the world know. “I was like, ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin,’” the actress, producer, and director told The Huffington Post.

“It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in House of Cards,” said Wright. “I was looking at the statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, ‘You better pay me or I’m going to go public,’” Wright said with her trademark blinding-white grin. “And they did.”

Uh, yes Claire Underwood is more popular at all times. Honestly, I wish Claire Underwood (or Robin Wright) would just run in 2016 and put an end to this whole mess.

Spacey reportedly made $500,000 per episode in 2014 before the third season hit Netflix. season 3 of the show debuted. Forbes reported that Wright took home $5.5 million, or about $420,000 an episode. Neither salary is anything to shake a stick at, but you better believe she earned every penny of that salary.
