Sofía Vergara is the highest-paid woman on television, taking home a hefty $43 million this year.
Vergara’s manager, Luis Balaguer explained that before Vergara’s acting work took off, she was a staple in commercials, including one for Pepsi, as well as branding, with her own line of bikini calendars selling a million copies before she was even famous. He told Forbes, “Even now, our attention is on the people watching Modern Family and how to appeal to them outside of the show, too. Our endorsement department is a well-oiled machine.”
Sofía Vergara’s endorsements include Quaker Oats, thyroid medicine Synthroid, McDonald’s,Bally Total Fitness, Cover Girl, Cerveza Aguila beers, Careisma scrubs, and Head & Shoulders shampoo. She also has licensing deals for fragrances, Rooms To Go furniture, and previously a clothing line with Kmart.
Part of Sofía Vergara’s success is appealing to the oft-overlooked Hispanic market.
“If you look purely at the numbers, any brand that is planning on growing needs to pay attention to the Hispanic market,” Marlene Morris Towns, adjunct professor at Georgetown’s McDonough school of Business, explained. “She’s funny and down to earth, which makes her not just a gorgeous face, but also very human and real enough to sell us shampoo.”
Sofía Vergara knows how to hustle. Bless!
