In 2011 a CBS News survey found that of all freshmen members of the U.S House of Representatives at least 21 of the 96 members were sleeping in their office. “It just seemed like sleeping in my office, just focusing totally on my work when I’m here, made the most sense,” Joe Walsh, Republican of Illinois, told The New York Times back then. “I don’t want to think about where I’m living, I don’t want to think about what I’m eating; I want to get in, do my work and then get home and talk to the people who sent me here.” All nighters are a pain. They were terrible in high school, they were terrible in college but they are probably the worst when you have to go straight to work the next day and pretend like you aren’t underslept.
