Over at Slate Libby Copeland made a fuss about female news anchors wearing no sleeves on camera. She said that for some notable anchors like Mika Brzezinski, Gretchen Carlson, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford (I guess we can call them news anchors?) sleeveless dresses and tops could even be called defining characteristics for them. Yes, female anchors are less covered up than they were even 20 years ago (she mentioned that in her first few years at Today Katie Couric wore turtlenecks under blazers) but why the hell do we care? Umm, does Jessica Simpson have a lawyer? You’d think a woman who runs a nearly billion-dollar fashion empire would have a lawyer to look over contracts because this seems like a detail you’d want to look over a few times. On the premiere of Katie Couric’s new show Katie, Jessica told the host she won’t receive the any of the money from her $3 million deal with Weight Watchers until she reaches her target weight. More
When “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts announced in June that she had been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called MDS, she said that she would undergo a bone-marrow transplant this fall, and would eventually have to miss a few months of work. Her last day at work before the transplant was supposed to be tomorrow, but this morning Roberts said that she had moved up her last day to today. She said today she is “about to embark upon a journey,” adding, “This will be my final morning for a while.” More
Katie Couric, whose new talk show Katie starts any day now, recently said she would have liked to have more children (she two daughters) but it was difficult because of her career. The 55 year old TV veteran told Good Housekeeping, ““Sometimes I think I should have had six kids. Or I wish I’d had one [more] at 37, but I was busy. My career.” More
Are you getting psyched for Katie Couric ‘s upcoming daytime talk show, Katie? Well, GET EXCITED! Katie’s team just released the show’s new theme song, “This Day,” written by Sheryl Crow. Ann Curry is mostly likely being fired from The Today Show because of a 37-year long feud between Today and Good Morning America and it’s unfair. For the first time in 16 years, during the month of April, GMA beat Today in the ratings. Even though Today was back on top a few days later, the network has decided this is clearly Anne’s fault because she is the newest addition to the anchor seat (she took the helm last year after Meredith Vieira left.) After years of being an extremely loyal employee and hard worker, Ann Curry has becoming nothing but a pawn in a corporate money battle.
With every new story about Matt Lauer and The Today Show, I become more and more convinced that he’s a really horrible person to work with. I know, he’s America’s nice guy. He and Katie Couric were sweeter than a couple of cupcakes. I realize that I’m insulting television royalty here. But I get the impression that Mr. Lauer is one of the worst co-workers I can imagine.
With Spring in full bloom and graduation just around the corner, schools across the country have started to announce their 2012 commencement speakers. This year’s crop of speakers include Michelle Obama, President Obama, Katie Couric, and Oprah Winfrey. More
Newswoman Katie Couric, arguably one of the most charming women ever, recently told the new PBS Makers series that she thinks it’s okay to use charm or rather your feminine wiles to help you in your career. Men have wiles too and they are also using them (hello Anderson Cooper.) Wiles are a universal recipe for success. More

No matter what your political leanings are, I think we can all agree that Sarah Palin has proven that she has a place in the entertainment industry. With her book tours, social media presence and yes, television appearances, Palin has cemented herself as a pop culture icon and talking head staple.
While the former-governor might not entice me to turn on The Today Show this week, it’s not like NBC was completely off-the-wall when they decided to bring in the Original Rogue to co-anchor the morning show. I respect this woman’s career as a political commentator and a television personality, even if I don’t agree with her politics. At all. Like not even a little.
If someone who vehemently disagree with this woman can be accepting of Palin on The Today Show, you would expect that her co-workers over at NBC could at least be civil with her, right? I guess that would make you just as naive as me. More
When Katie Couric interviewed Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign, it was one of the most iconic — and painful — moments of the election. Couric asked Palin what newspapers and magazines she read, Palin failed to name even one, and a legendary moment was born. Tomorrow, the two women have a chance to compete head to head again when Couric guest-hosts Good Morning America and Palin sits in as guest host at Today. Grab your popcorn!
Forbes just released its annual list of the 50 Most Powerful Women In Business. One of the biggest winners was Anne Sweeney, who at number 14 overtook Oprah to become the head of list for Hollywood. This lady has an impressive portfolio and she’s only going to gain more name recognition. So let’s learn a little more about this year’s most powerful woman in television.
